  • Mentoring
  • Group Education

Family Work in Schools:

This programme provides a school-based social worker to help children up to Year 8 (age 13) make positive changes in their lives.

Trained staff work in partnership with young people and their families to build on strengths and resolve issues or concerns. Areas of focus include reducing anti-social behaviour and truancy, encouraging success, improving life skills, building self-esteem and confidence and understanding domestic violence (if appropriate).

A key advantage of the service is the opportunity for prevention and early intervention, which prevents problems escalating.

Family Worker in Kindergarten:

The Youth and Family Worker in Kindergarten service is a voluntary service for families who have concerns about:

• Your child’s emotional well-being
• Situations that are preventing your child’s learning and enjoyment at kindergarten
• Parenting your children
• Relationships within your family

Synergy Youth Mentoring:

Mentoring matches a trained adult mentor with a young person in need of a reliable, positive role model.

The outcomes include increased self esteem and a broader range of experiences and skills which will assist the child or youth to make better decisions and choices in the future.

Matches are based on shared interests or experiences. The mentor will meet with the child or youth once a week for a year and engage in some activity that both enjoy, such as going to the park, playing games, cooking, crafts, fishing and other outdoor activities.
